I am Karin Weyrauch, a photographer
and electronic engineer.
Traveling and observing are part of how I understand the world.
I work with both a technical and a sensitive eye: light as material,
time as an ally, and the pursuit of that moment when a scene reveals its magic.
Photography is, for me, a form of emotion shaped by light.
It is light —its direction, intensity, and character— that creates atmosphere and allows an image to resonate with the viewer.
I photograph to suspend the instant.
For many years my mind lived ahead of the present, planning futures that rarely arrived. The camera became a way of retrieving what, in real time, I barely managed to see. Freezing a scene allowed me to return to it later, to observe it calmly, and to discover what had passed unnoticed.
Today, even knowing that the present is the only real time, I continue to find meaning in capturing those minimal, unrepeatable fragments that vanish immediately, yet through photography remain. Images I can return to —and that others may enter— again and again.
My base is Punta del Este, but my studio is anywhere light happens.
